Alem Desta Coffee Exporter
Our Process
From seed to export, coffee undergoes a meticulous journey that defines its quality and character. It begins with carefully selected seeds of the Coffea plant, cultivated in ideal climates within the coffee-growing belt. After planting, the trees mature and produce cherries, which are handpicked at peak ripeness to ensure optimal flavour. These cherries are then processed—either washed or naturally dried—to extract the beans, followed by drying, milling, and grading based on size, weight, and quality standards. The beans are then carefully sorted, packaged, and prepared for export, preserving their unique origin profiles. This precise, quality-driven process ensures that every cup delivers the rich aroma and distinctive taste that coffee lovers expect worldwid.
Coffee Belt Overview
The coffee belt, located between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, provides optimal environmental conditions for high-quality coffee cultivation. It offers a balanced combination of warm temperatures, consistent rainfall, fertile soil, and suitable altitudes essential for healthy coffee plant growth. Countries within this region are known for producing diverse, premium coffee beans with rich flavour, distinctive aroma, and strong global market appeal.
Coffee Species
Arabica coffee (Coffea arabica) is the most widely cultivated and highly valued coffee species, known for its smooth, mild flavour and complex aromatic profile. It thrives in high-altitude regions with cooler climates and requires careful cultivation, making it more delicate but preferred in premium coffee markets worldwide.
Robusta: Stronger, bitter, higher caffeine.

~ How we made it ~
Coffee comes from the Coffea tree, native to tropical Africa, which produces the cherries containing the beans we drink. Over centuries, coffee has spread worldwide and become a key part of global culture. It grows best in the “coffee belt,” where the combination of altitude, rainfall, and temperature creates the rich and diverse flavors that make each coffee unique
